Don't worry, there are more Italy posts coming soon. Just a little break to reflect on other memories from this summer. Specifically, my Southwestern N.Y. getaway with my parents. After all the hustle and bustle of big city living, there's nothing I love more than spending a few days in the tranquility of a cottage on Lake Erie.
It's a place where life moves more slowly. A place where all evening activities center around making it outside in time to watch the sunset. Keeping with tradition, we savor sunset parties every night. We grab beverages to toast with and head to the nearby park or down to the pebble-filled beach.
We toast to being there, to being together. We text photos and messages to our missing family members telling them we wished they were there. And we watch the sun drop below the horizon, then wait to see if the afterglow will be even better than the actual sunset.
