My thirtieth birthday has come and gone. Since it was right after our trip to Italy, we didn't plan anything elaborate. My parents and brother came to town, so we celebrated with them, my mother-in-law, and my aunt, uncle, and cousin.
1. Ice cream cake by my mother-in-law. It included layers of lady fingers soaked in sweetened espresso, spumoni ice cream, and whipped cream. Frozen, then slightly thawed before serving.
2. Molly's Cupcakes in Lincoln Park with my mom. Mine was a chocolate chip cookie dough concoction and hers was lemon meringue.
3. Flowers from my brother.
4. Flowers from my husband.
5. Pizza at Burt's Place in Morton Grove, to celebrate all the July birthdays in our family!
6. Frozen yogurt at Menchie's. Red velvet and cake batter flavors. So good.
7. Dinner in Chinatown. My husband and brother shared hot pot.
