| The leaning tower of cannoli cake! This is funny because I actually suggested to my husband that we get a unique cake shaped like either the Leaning Tower of Pisa or the Coliseum in Rome. He vetoed my ideas and mumbled something about not being "guido"... |
Our wedding cake was from a Sicilian bakery, which is actually owned by the family of one of my former students. We didn't really know what we wanted by way of wedding cake, and they were really helpful in making suggestions. We ended up going with a yellow cake, cannoli filling, covered in an ivory fondant. Cannoli filling typically consists of ricotta cheese, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate chips, and sometimes orange zest, heavy cream, or pistachios. The baker made the beautiful designs in the fondant and added the roses on top for us. It was delicious and we received SO many compliments on the cake.
